Hi. I have had both a D1 and a D2. The D2 broke down in france about 7 years ago with the Mrs and the kids. At that time she suddenly developed a serious hatred of all things Land Rover! So when we (Finally) got back I had to get rid.
Fast forward to the present and we have split up anyway. So against my better judgement, I fancied buying a D4!

Been looking for a few weeks and have found two that seem decent. Both similar spec and price and both had cambelt change already.

The first one has 100k on the clock and is a 2014 plate. The second one has 123k on the clock and has a 2016 plate.

Both have full service history and seem to be in very decent condition. (I will go and look at them both)

I keep changing my mind all the time about which one is a potential! Any thoughts on an older one with less miles or newer with more miles?

help!!

Before even looking at one, google sdv6 crankshaft failure.
One company I follow on FB cannot keep up with the amount of repairs they do on the sdv6 engines.
D4 prices are really coming down as well.

Also there’s a security update to reduce the ease at the way the keyless models can be stolen, free update from JLR on 2016 models , due to that plse ensure u have the minimum of 2 x key fobs , 2016 will also be a euro 6 / have adblue fitted

Plse also Ensure u get an extensive warranty to cover the engine otherwise it can be a £7-9k repair bill

Hi mate

Also noticed that about the D4’s coming down in price plus ones being sold with blown engines

Good advice. It's a bit of a lottery. The worst thing is it doesn't seem to be just engines that have been neglected.

It's getting more difficult to find decent ones with warranty as the d4 gets older. Ill keep looking. cheers!
