Help/advice Needed

Apologies in advance for my "newbieness" but im looking for a bit of advice. I bought a Freelander 2 (2011) in June 2015 on a five year finance deal and ive found myself in a bit of a dilema. It sailed through it's MOT when it was due however the car has now developed MAJOR problems. The Turbo has stopped working and it also has issues with the DPF (Filter) of which i have been quoted £4500 for both to be replaced. I have been advised that the filter is still working however it's pretty much on it's last legs. Unfortunately im not in the position (at least until May next year when my finances get better) to get the car fixed. I predominately used the car to drive to my work and back however i am currently driving my wife's car due to the Freelander now being in "limp mode". Driving on a bypass/motorway can be quite an ordeal as the top speed is now limited to 70 mph and "getting up to speed" between gear changes is a nightmare. The garage have told me i can still run the car (my wife is using it for very short journeys to her work) however these issues will need to be sorted. I suppose i have a few questions that im unsure on- "Will running the car this way until next May cause further damage?. I suppose an obvious question i should have asked the garage - "Will the car pass it's next MOT if i cant get the funding to replace the Turbo?. Any help/advice would be appreciated and again apologies for my "car knowledge rustiness".

Hi, I'm hoping you have consulted a Land Rover type garage and not something like Kwik Fit!

There a quite a good few Independents round your parts and might be worth a call if you haven't already

I don't know about your "car rustiness", but I would suggest that you get back up to speed with traffic legislation. I understand this can be a bit difficult in Sturgeonland, what with having different laws and stuff, but being limited to 70mph is not only due to "limp mode" but I'm sure that the law of the land has a little bit to do with it too.
I would agree with @biggeeeee on this, even if it costs a bit, get a proper diagnosis from somebody with a proven track record and get to know, even trust a local indie garage.
The main problem I've heard about with turbos is that the bearing seals start leaking which can lead to oil getting to where it shouldn't be. It would seem to depend upon exactly what is the matter with your turbo.

£4.5K..........Didn't know they made gold plated exhausts and turbos for Freelanders !

Somebody's plonker is getting pulled by someone here.
A Freelander turbo is about 300 quid, 4 or 500 absolute maximum. As for the egg sauce, I've no idea but there's no way that it and labour would come to 4 1/2 grand.
I didn't know what a Freelander will do in limp home mode, but 70 mph?
