Not worth it.

There isn't a decent diesel conversion - the only ones that people do are really crappy diesel engines that are just too agricultural for the P38 - don't suit it at all.

Unless you fit the factory BMW engine that comes with the P38, no-one will want to buy it either so it will be a total waste of money.

If you want a diesel, better to get the 4.6 replaced, sell it and buy a factory diesel - will probably work out cheaper that way too in the long run.

Problem is all the electronics. If you put anything other than a replacement of the engine that was in there before, you need to change a lot of the electronics (including the very expensive BeCM), or bypass them somehow -and there just isn't the knowledge around like there is for things like Defender and Disco conversions (not to mention that they are a lot easier to do because there is a lot less in terms of complex electronics in those)

I'm sure the BMW 3.0 engine would fit, but if you could make it work with the P38 without a huge amount of work I'm not sure. Would be pioneering stuff, and that's always expensive! Would be a great vehicle afterwards tho (for the road anyway)

Fit The Standard Diesel 2.5 Bmw Engine And All Its Ancillarys .
Then Chip It And Fit A Larger Intercooler From Allards.
You Will Return 30 To The Gallon And Around 200 Horse.
