Thought i better post a hello,

I am thinking of replacing my x-type with a 110 v8 CSW (ideally with the lever handles, i dont know why i just like them better) as i would like to get into a bit of off-roading.
I am (rather sadly, some might think) in the TA and as such have had much fun off-road in land rovers, i guess i got the bug and now i need one.
It will need to be my every day car as well as being fitted to carry my two hounds hence the CSW.
I'll most likely be buying a bit of a shed so i can rebuild it to my own spec and learn some mechanical skills at the same time, aswell as getting lpg fitted.

My question here would be I always like the army rovers with the radiators in the back and heated front screen, does anyone know what this spec is called and can you get the bits to fit it to a CSW (i'm guessing 2 of the four rear rads will fit)?
I will be looking at doing some driving upto finland in the not to distant future so it would be nice to have the heat.

thanks for your time,

M_O

They stopped doing the lift up handles round about late 84 ish If you want lift up handles you'll actually pay a lot more for them than you will a newer one. If you have contacts in the TA's it may be possible for you to get a set of military doors. as these all have lift up handles and sliding windows.

The extra rads etc is known as a winterisation kit and the parts often come up on Fleabay again TA contacts may be usefull the other site that will be able to help you is the ex military landrover Association EMLRA! Unless you have kids I'd suggest a 110 3 door over a CSW as they are easier for getting dogs in and out and are cheaper than a CSW. Also I'm not sure you can get lift up handles for the rear doors?

Hi and thanks for your reply,

I think i'll be able to get the front doors, i wonder if i could fit the lever handles to the push button doors a modification as i should be able to the the handles and locks too.

the winterisation kit is what i though it was called but, in the army at least, that now refers to the wolf insulation kit which does not have rads just insulation :(.

Thanks for the EMLRA info i did not know they existed so i will be in touch with them, though i'll wait till i'm getting the 110 first.

The reasoning behind the CSW is that once in a blue moon i'll have 2 - 3 passengers, although i might get away with it, we're a three car family at the moment :).

thanks

I'll just go for what ever is on the one i buy then, i'm still a few months away from getting one but i want to do the ground work first, so i know what i'm looking for.

thanks again
