I'm James, i've had a landrover itch that started when i learned to drive in a series 1 at the age of 7 in my dads field. Since then i've never really been in the position to own a Landrover and 5 years ago i had a motorbike crash which has left me un-able to use a clutch so most landrovers are out the window, but hopefully thats due to change, although i do live in London these days i still wnat a landy for getting out into the countryside at the weekends. My Dad still has his farm in sussex and i can use the metal workshops there for any tinkering / repairs etc as i do on my other cars.

I have found a guy that is buying up old 3.9 rangrovers, cutting off 10", and putting a 90" shel on them with a brand new gas conversion. he's selling them at around £5k, and i'm really interested.

Do these 'hybrids' cause insurance problems? Also does the gas conversion mean cheaper tax?

Thanks

well - i spose compared with a Hippoo - yup a disco or a pretender are a brilliant choice;).

Nah, we all know Hippos are superb, but for all that off road stuff Disco is the only way to go. Pretenders are just too overpriced & offer nothing over a Disco to justify the huge price difference.

Anyhoo I'll stick to my little Td4 & crawl back under my rock (so long as it aint off road) wi your permission of course.:D :D :D

There was a company making these a couple of years ago but I believe he had to shut down because of problems with build quality and SVA certification. You'd be much better getting a discovery for ease of use and comfort. Unless you are planning on some extreme offroading then a std Disco will go anywhere a std 90 will go and even some places a std 110 won't go. (Gatescarth Pass been one)

there are lots of companies in the UK that will convert the controls for you.
