Hello,

I'm brand new to the forums, and I am hoping to find a warm, friendly community who I can rely on for hints, tips and pointers on my first Landrover experience, as well as being able to share experiences and photos etc.

I am currently pursuing my first Landy, a Defender 90 of course (I'm all for the traditional shape) and I have an elderly 1986 2.5 (not turbo) diesel in mind at a local specialist.

I think that 1986 is pretty much the sweet spot is it not? They'll drink a mix of bio-diesel no hastle, run well and everything seems reasonably easy to get at under the bonnet. I'm just hoping that I can have it in my hands within the next couple of weeks. Here's a burning question:

what's is the name for the 1986 2.5 litre diesel engine? I know newer ones are TD5 etc.

Adz, well hello! Yeah I kinda fealt abit more at home here on a mainly UK based sicsussion forum. It also seems a touch more active is it not?
