After too many years riding bikes and trying to keep Rover P6s on the road Ive finally ticked own a Landy off my bucket list. Found a nice, low-mileage 2002 Freelander 1.8GS with only 40k on the clock. Picking it up this coming Saturday... its been a long wait (my nerves are shot to bits)! Hopefully the only fix Ill need to find on this site is how to get the damn grin off my face...

Please don't let the light hearted banter about buying a freelander rather than one of the other Land Rover models put you off there are some great people on here only too happy to help with advice or hands on assistance should you ever need it. By the way are they still doing the free hair dryer with every Freelander offer at the dealers

Do they actually drop off or do they dissolve like those on a Ford Focus? Just wondering whether to take bungees or bin bags... and if I replace the doors with bin bags do I need to declare that to the insurance hounds as an "upgrade"?

Well done mate you will fit in well here Its only an up grade if you use gaffer tape to keep the bin bags onSnaggers in these days of austerity youve got to keep up a good sense of humour, its cheaper than getting the sights fixed on my rifle.
Anyhoo, they said it would happen and sure enough, they were right! Picked up my Freelander on Saturday, got about a mile from the garage before I broke down... tears of joy and snot-bubbles, all very embarrassing...
Did about 150 miles in the Bus (number plate BU5 - I dont like to think too hard), had to stop as the missus refused to bring dinner out to the car. Other than the fact that she pulls ever so slightly to the left and grinning so much makes my face hurt I cant fault her.
