Hello!

Having used military land rovers extensively I have finally bought my own - a bright red (respray) X Reg hard top Defender 300 TD5, being picked up on Saturday.

Is there a good resource/list of land rover essentials.

As it is a hard top pick up and I am looking to fit inward facing seats with belts in the back. Any advice, particularly on the legal aspects of this mod, or a point in the right direction for the correct place to post this would be appreciated.

I look forward to much rewarding landy based banter.

Regards

Quilkyn

Amend to my last - she is a defender 90 TD5.

Not Military then TD5 has 5 Cylinders as opposed to the 4 Cylinder 300 Tdi and the Military have never used TD5 in front line Green fleet role. In the 90-110-130 section there is a section with the Land Rover parts catalogue which is free to use. Welcome to the Zone:D

I didn't read it as he had bought an ex-military, but that after having used military Land Rovers for years, he's now bought his own Land Rover.

Any way welcome to LZ, avoid the mad house (Anything Goes) and enjoy the fun.

Can't really help you with the law about fitting rear seats, but you will need some means of anchoring the seat belts (lap only), which should be fairly to obtain.

For seats you have 3 basic choices a) the next to useless dicky seats out of an ex-military b) LR bench seats or c) Individual seats.

If you want to also use the tub as a load carrier then b) or c) should ideally be tip-up. Comfort wise c) are preferable, but bench seats are fairly cheap to buy and are OK in my 110 station wagon. If people don't like them, they can always walk.
