Hello there everyone,

I'm Donald, living just outside of Adelaide, South Australia. Originally from Ontario, Canada.
After years of wanting one, I picked up a Series 3 SWB back in February. I've been reading this forum and a local Australian forum for a while now.

Since high school in the 90's, I've always had vintage bikes, a few Norton Commandos, one of which I still own today. Living in Toronto meant lack of reliable garages so I never had a chance for a vintage car. I finally said "stuff it" and started saving mid last year. I had a few cars on my shortlist but the Series kept popping to the top of the list because of its versatility. It's not just a Sunday cruiser, but also a highly capable adventure-mobile.

My Landy is a 1976 with the 2.25 petrol engine and a Fairey overdrive. Other than the OD and a long range tank (65 litres), everything seems fairly stock. The chassis is solid and the engine runs beautifully, I'm very happy with my purchase. I don't plan on doing much to it in the short term, other than taking the top off when summer arrives down here in the Antipodes. My 5yr old daughter loves driving in it, and we've done some dirt tracks and water crossings while exploring the Adelaide Hills.

I've not had much trouble with it so far, apart from fuel starvation problems due to the tank and lines being full of debris. I sorted all that out. I found the mirrors to be woeful, tried wing mounted as well as just in front of the doors, but couldn't get the vision I wanted. Despite the modern look, I've made a concession for safety and fitted a set of Defender hinges and mirrors last weekend, picked up from a local wreckers and sprayed to the original Spanish Olive.

Welcome. Nice story and a nice looking landy. If you have problems go to the series section of the forum. The petrol engine is a very reliable engine if kept regularly serviced. Check the oil weekly and only use mineral oil rather than modern synthetic. I'd check the oil levels in the gearbox, overdrive and the diffs. Happy chugging.
