Hi guys n gals

So i have been wanting a defender for some years and a few weeks ago i got one!

Been doing a few jobs on the old boy and thought some of you lot would like to see what I'm up to plus you might spot something I'm doing/done wrong.

Hi Lee,

Tis a clean looking old girl you got there, ooops , appears yours is a male.
If you are planning on using the Snorkel, make sure it works as it should.

Cheers

PS, the wipers are wonky..............had to find something to pick on.......LOL

the wiper are on my job list!

when i fitted the snorkel i took all the induction pipes off and checked for holes where maybe a pipe had been rubbing. put it all back together with a smear or sealer. i got the wing covered in the stuff but luckily brake cleaner got it off the panel and my hands! lol

Did you try the stall test to see if it is sealed correctly?

You know the list never gets any shorter..... at least mine never does.

Cheers

I tend to use my Haynes manual, it has to be good for something.

It has quite a suck , so use something that is not going to disappear in there.

one for the job list! thanks and this is why i love this forum!

Welcome . Make sure its secure Safe T pedal is good, But bulky and heavy, plus a wheel lock is a good visible deterrent. When you need tires go and see Charles at Bardills

So over the weekend i have striped the front grill, rad and intercooler off to give me better access when i change the timing belt.
I thought this would be a good time to flush the old coolant from the engine, rad and also clean out both the intercooler ind inlet as i am removing the EGR crap off.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how clean the inlet runners are. i was expecting a lot of carbon from the EGR.
May be a new head has been fitted or maybe the EGR is disconnected somewhere who knows.

If you are doing the timing belt, have you cracked the crank pulley bolt loose yet?
Also, was there a load of mugs etc, in the top tray of the dishwasher?

Cheers

No mate not yet. Once the timing tool kit comes and the fan spanner i will have a look at the bolt then. I'm a plant fitter by trade so i have some beefy tools.

And yes some mugs where in the top so i had to give them a second spin lool

View attachment 121536[/QUOTE] Even without me telling on you, trust me, she'll know; they always know. It's a mystery how mine always somehow finds out I've been spending money on the car, or improvising cleanups with her utensils even though I clean up after myself still baffles me....mysterious creatures they are:eek:

Aup

Been blasting and painting today. hopefully i will build up the rad and intercooler frame this week ready for putting the old boy back together next weekend.
