Landy 110 Hicap ~ 1989
Seems my flashers failed, along with my indicators due to a short across two (or four) terminals in the female plug at the end of the, expensive and I imagine, ridiculous to replace wiring loom. This is made worse by the fact that a 25A fuse was installed on the circuit, instead of the 17A fuse recommended. So the plug's plastic partially melted, the relay failed completely and now the plug doesn't close fully (plenty to make a light connection) and I've been blowing fuses all day testing various fiddles.
I've replaced the male, dash mounted switch and relay in the fuse box by now. However, when I connect it all up the flashers work for like 10 seconds then the fuse blows. The light on the dash then flashes really weakly, also.
So, no terminals are actually touching but I reckon there's some arcing going on in amongst the melted plastic and the terminals which are now 'fused' into it and no longer free floating as designed. Maybe a pin got dinged on a prior assembly, like when my mechanic replaced the switch... I'm unsure. I doubt it though because he's an ace - used to race - Pete Rowe...
So, anyone got either that female plug for me or a brilliant workaround... so I can pass my MOT, get back to work and stop using hand signals in a 30 year old vehicle ~ a red flag for any bored Copper!?
