Hi guys
My land rover 90 td5 has a crap heater gets Luke warm after about 15 miles.
Quick question if I change the air vents on the top of WING would it get hotter.
Have changed thermostat put cardboard in front of rad or is this how they are just tuffern up and wear a coat and gloves.
Any ideas would be bloody handy as I am freezing me ball off

Welcome to the mad house, have you really only got one ball?:D Not familiar with td5s but do they have a heater box similar to my older tratter as they can get blocked with debris. Do the rad pipes get hot?

Yep rads hot check that the cables to the heater box are moving correctly seems fine.
Has anyone brought one of those heaters that plug in the fag lighter if so which is a good one.
Got a feeling all defenders are like this as I've just googled it hay ho just man up I guess .

Maybe worth checking you haven't got an air lock in the system. It may be because the ambient temperatures are low, so the rad is more efficient and the block looses more heat directly, so the water temperature will be lower while the heater matrix has a higher temperature gradient to make. Running the fan on low speed may help as the matrix will be cooler in the very cold weather, and the air passing through it is much colder, so needs more time to be heated.

Mine is fine. But I have changed the heater matrix and coolant which made a massive difference.

If I drive around town the heater isn't the best. But 90 faster roads it's bearable. Mine is very well insulated though
