Seeking part number or source.
The heater fan went from 4 speeds to 1 speed to none over the course of a year or so. When it finally gave out I purchased a replacement switch and went through the brain damage replacing it without a manual. Before putting it all back together I tried it and discovered the problem endured BUT I could hear a relay clicking as I moved the slide control back and forth.
AHHH! says I. I climbed around under the passenger side footwell, removed the lower cover and managed to pull down six or so relays and got out my trusty stethoscope. Nada. I probed around and discovered a vertically mounted, boot covered relay in about the center of the footwell above the fan and sure enough, it's the devil.
Odd thing is, there is no part number, no manufacturer name, nothing. Mystery Part. I would call my local dealer but they couldn't find a bog roll in a paper mill's lav. Unlike all of the other relays, this one was completely covered by a rubber boot (I imagine as a shock damper, water proofer or insulator or nincompooper) the plastic cover was grey and not green, black or yellow like the others.
Thanks for your thoughts and ideas!
Peter
