Heater fan problem

Heater fan stopped working totally. When i turn the switch from 1 to 3 nothing happens. When i put it to 4 a whine noise comes from the switch area. Checked all fuses all fine. Checked the resister pack with our second jeep. Working fine. Put power directly to the fan. Works fine. Tried putting a new switch in, still the same problem occurs.
I'm fresh out of ideas. The only other thing I can think of is a break somewhere in the wire or a bad earth somewhere.
Any other idea's would be greatly appreciated.
