Guys,
anyone ever measured the carbon brushes in the original smith blower?

or has anyone got a spare blower I can buy/or can you take a measure for me please?

mines in me motor again and I can't strip and refit in between uses at the minute due to new baby

thank you kindly

The blower motor from an old Spitfire today, brushes and commutator were mint so fitted it, nice and smooth fan. blocked up holes in heater box where popes exit with black silicon :

Dr_Evil is sending me his old blower motor and heater box so I may experiment by doubling up my matrix for more heat.

will the water pump cope with extra capacity?

I would think the water pump should cope. After all it only really stirs the water around a bit. Not sure why you would want to mess around though. My series 3 heater is fine once the old doozle has warmed up. I did a lot of back flushing with a hose on gentle pressure through the matrix/radiator and the block. Result is an acceptable heater on all but the silly minus 5 degree days when the blower sucks in icy air.

with the double matrix same amount of water flows through as they are normally in series, water needs to go into the one nearest the cab and come out of the one furthest away thus air passing over the outer one is partially heated by it then further heated by second one.

I inly need a double one because a: I have a canvass top so it takes loads to heat, b: I do most of my rescue work in winter during sub zero conditions :)
