Heated rear window

Hi folks - well I decided that time was right for me to wire up the rear heated window. However, the heating element on the window has 2 connections and my wiring has only the one!!! Any ideas as to what should connect to the second connection??

I tested by using the old 'screwdriver with a bulb' between the 2nd connection and an earth, so i'm guessing it should just go to earth - but wanna be sure

The HRW has a feed on one side and the other is a short earthing wire that just earths to door frame. Later versions might have seperate earth wire thru harness .
