hi al got a v8 dico and its getting very hot by my legs and uto box and also overheating when i tow any ides please

As above then thermostat and then retarded ignition and then radiator fins rusted off or blocked.

Easy, easy, first post, no 'Hi, I'm new', just straight in with a question. We don't know what we're dealing with yet.

3' inbred window licker, tool kit bought from Ikea to put together a bookcase, imaginary transexual hairdresser, who knows!

HI ALL yes i am new to this as you can prob tell i did nt realise all landrover owners had such a wicked sense of humour ah well cheered me up though cheers ) anyway yes all oil levels good and had new hose from rad and also new pipe to cool oil from gearbox seems sluggish but towing just not happening

Okay, I can hopefully explain a little more.
So, to start with, when driving normally, the Landis gear lever gets rather warm as well as the plate by my left leg. The Landi does pull but is rather sluggish at times esp up a hill. The heat gauge stays normal. When I switch on the cold air con, this cools down the gear lever completly. Now, when I am towing, it is another ball game - the heat shoots through the roof! The gear lever becomes very hot, the temp gauge goes into the red an there is almost no power esp going up a hill. When I opened the bonnet the heat appeared to be from the radiator but alos towards the near side for some reason and I could actually hear the water in the pipes bubbling.... help.

Is your fan cutting in? Could be viscous coupling if not. They're pretty crap and there's often no guarantee a new unit will actually work for long! If the fan is cutting in & out (though probably 'in' most of the time on your motor!) I'd start with thermostat. Little point in testing, though you can put it in a saucepan of water and heat it till it 'pops'. Might move from there to water pump, but lets start with the cheap items first!
