So managed to pick up some D4 headlights for my D3 , couldn't believe how much they cost new , dread to think what some of the new Land Rover head lights are

also had to get a pair of new D4 wings , alas thought the D4 black is different from the D3 black, something to with them using a different metallic paint, so will see if I can spray them myself, here comes comedy hour, lol

should be plug and play with apart from resetting the CCF, but saying that I think I’ve got to run a switched live for the DRL’s

am hoping I’ll be able to leave the D3 bumper on so I can fit my A bar

plus will have to get some headlight washers as there xenons , at least I don’t have to worry about the self levelling on mine

Black is a goood colour to paint, as you can hide a load of sins!

You probably have somewhere more local, but there is a good paint place at the bottom of Bluebell hill.

many thks for the link, awesome to get recommendations

mixed views of either using my compressor or rattle cans, alas don’t know if I’ll get the same finish , mines only 9.6 Cfm , 50 x litre but think it should just be big enough to spray 2 x wings , rough price I’ve seen is around £300 to get them done by a spray shop, I think I’ll be able to do it for a £100 ???
Then if u use cellulose or 2K , see u can get 2k rattle cans

have plenty of time and patience , it’s just if I buy pre thinned paint of rattle cans , so I assume etching primer, mbascoat then laquer or clear coat , think clear coat is the usa version

suppose I could at least give it a try , also have an orbital sander , think I’ll also see what utube videos are around

thks again

Save up and pay a sprayer Gary, it wil psis you off if you do a turd job and have to look at it every day.

must admit still haven’t made my mind up and indeed if it’s not right will drive me nuts

plus as there steel will fit some anti vibration pads and Dinitrol on the back of the wings , funny enough was able to buy brand new steel wings cheaper than oem second hand

thks again

Hiya GARY!!!!

How ya doing man! ;)

To be fair i'd be inclined to have the panels matched and painted by a bodyshop, the issue with modern paint is the metallic/pearl in the paint which is near impossible to get 100% without matching/blending to the adjacent panels.

hi mate

alas looks like some of the cheapest quotes are coming in at £500 , yikes, at that price I’ll attempt to do them myself

Shame that even though it’s a metallic black there different on the D3 and D4 , however I don’t know by how much as if it can be easily noticed , but then second hand wings in decent paint condition are around £200 each

Found one company that if I send my fuel filler cap they can indeed match it for no extra cost, choice is now if either to use rattle cans or my compressor as I’m not paying £500 , don’t mind around £350 , materials for me are £120

maybe that’s the going rate or they don’t want the work, waiting for a few more quotes to come in

Compressor and gun would give you a better finish.

But yes having it matched would be good choice ;)

cheers mate , alas my spraying days were from 20 x years ago using cellulose, also think half the battle is what pressure and injector size is for the gun and to what paint

seen this , which help it all being pre mixed, don’t mind if it comes with directions , but see it’s 2k

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392381235947

also things like how long to give it between costs , in the past I useto do 2x primer, 3-4 base coat and around the same for a clear coat , but that’s cellulose so don’t know if the 2k would be the same

looked on utube but most of them are American spray tips , alas don’t know how they compare

thks again mate
