I bought a pair og new bulbs for the headlights, fitted the N/S in two minutes, went to fit the O/S and when I was clipping the bulb in with the wire at the back of the lamp the lug broke off the rear of the lamp, this is a tiny piece of plastic about 2mm thick that retains the wire spring clip, due to the shape of the back of the lamp there seams nothing else to fix too. I find it really annoying that a tiny piece of plastic basicly rights off the whole headlight, I have managed to bodge the fix for now but feel it will work loose as its only held in by a piece of wire.

I expect many of you dont realy know what I mean, but I have to say its a really bad design from LR  even if it was 4mm it would have been much more robust.

You could put summat between the bulb and the round, twist off cover. Foam, wood, check if it gets hot though, don't want it meltin...

I have a similar problem but it's the spring-clip itself which is broken. Anyone got any idea where I can buy a new clip as I don't really fancy forking out for a new headlight unit for the sake of a tiny clip.

I've spent a good few hours tonight trailing through web pages with no joy !

I have a 2005 facelift model Freelander, not sure if previous models had the same part !?

Thanks,
Gerry.

the spring clip can be reasonably easily fashioned out of a suitable piece of metal, have done this in the past for other vehicles, so don't see why it couldn't be done for the freelander. two pairs of pliers is usually enough, and it doesn't have to be an exact match shape for shape, as long as it grips.
