Hi guys, just came across this forum and hoping you can help, searches but to no avail. Sorry if you’ve all been over it 100 times!

I’ve got a 2008 Range Rover sport tdv8 and the passenger side headlight failed. Bought one off eBay which appears to be in very good condition and looks identical to the one I removed. The dipped beam is fine but the main beam adjusts up to the sky causing a light to come on the dash and more importantly fail it’s mot. Mechanic says there’s different voltage headlights For these but I can’t seem to find any info online. Any help greatly appreciated as it currently without a car!!

This is mental, computer controlled headlights... o_O
Our lass has a C4 picasso plastic pig and the headlights are over 600€ per piece.. The replacement will be a bloody halogen model....

They are all twelve volt, the high voltage is produced inside the lamp via its transformer.
There are none directional bi-xenon and directional xénons. I presume you have the directional ones as standard.
It could be a faulty lamp you've bought?

Do some of these not need programming to tell them the whats what?
Good question, I had a freelander 2 turn up with directional lights that refused to turn or self level.
No codes and no apparent damage. I couldn't advise him through not knowing the system... Complicated for no reason..

You mean self-levelling?

Had those on the Miggy. Little wheel by the headlight switch adjusted them up or down so you could compensate when towing or with a full load.

So Land Rover have aitomated the levelling because we're all so thick? Except air suspension keeps it level anyway. It must have some sort of reference to know what horizontal is?

Sorry grrrrrrr-rrrr, that's not self leveling, there is no little adjustment wheel for xénons and bi xenons, there is for halogens. Other than cars with self leveling suspension.
There is a little arm attached the à suspension component that dictates the headlamp height..
