Hey guys! Can anyone point out where the headlamp motor is on this pic? Can’t quite figure it out... this picture is of the same headlamp I have I’ve also put a picture of the motor I’m replacing

I think the motor is inside the casing, I've looked at the LR parts list & it doesn't show it as a separate part for the facelift model (it does show that motor on the pre facelift as per andyfreelandy's picture). Hopefully it'll be the same part & it's replaceable. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow to see if I can shed any light on it, lol.

Urgh! Gutted cause I have such small hands I found I was able to remove parts from the headlight without having to remove the headlight and bumper etc went to remove the bumper and the screws in the wheel arch are rusted to the point there’s nothing to put a screwdriver in

I've just had a look at mine & you can just see a motor after removing the bulb changing caps but I think the black casing covering it is bonded on to the h/lens which is maybe why the motor is not available separately. So before you drill the screws out of the wheel arch liner it might be worth waiting to you can see a headlamp that's already out as the non facelift motor might not be the same anyway . If the headlight is out of alignment you have to use the manual adjusters on the back of the lamp anyway the motors are only there for increased load in the vehicle, hope this helps a little bit.

Damn! Bought the part off eBay came off a 2004 Freelander so assumed it would be the same as mine, tbh I was guessing it was that that needed changing as the headlight makes a buzzing noise, all the lights work fine it’s just when you go to change the setting from 0 that it makes the noise

Yes it does sound like the motor struggling. I might be wrong so as I say it would be worth trying to look at a h/lamp unit out of the vehicle (are there any places near you that may have a new one on the shelf to look at ?). Can you access the bumper bolts through the removable panels in the wheel arch liner, with your small hands?:). I'll have a look at mine later.

Bad news. Had a look a face-lift headlight. Motor is integral to the headlamp I am afraid.
The motor adjusters are now part of the MOT test if they are fitted, I had one fail the other week as the motors were not working. It was a dirty switch. Worth a check as this could make it hum and not operate as could a dirty connection.

Worth spraying switch, it just pulls out, then unplug headlight, spray connector and refit. It costs nowt and might do the job, else it's a new lamp I am afraid!!

I thought as much, if the manual adjuster(s) are seized/stiff, that would cause the motor to struggle? so if you work those with a bit of lube for a while, providing the motor/wiring/switch is ok, that should get it working me thinks.

Well I’ve just had her mot’d she failed on welding and a prop bearing but no mention of the headlamp motor so must be operational despite the noise, thanks for the info guys I’ve seen whole headlamps for 35 quid so not too bad!
