Ey up. I went and purchased myself a Haynes manual, I thought, if I'm ever gonna learn anything I've got to make a start, you know changing the odd light bulb etc!!

Any road, book turns up in post and what a disappointment, very few piccies and they're all black and white - wossat all about then?? Can't bloomin tell what I'm looking at, you know like the rusty bits and that!

So I'm afraid I'll still be asking me stoopid questions:eek: be gentle wont yers all?

The pictures are black and white because Landys are Black from all of the oil leaks. It's more realistic.

youve learnt the first lesson.
ask here about the haynes landy manual BEFORE buying a copy.

Could you please refer to the tome by its correct name

The Haynes Book of Lies

How to adjust your tyre pressure

First, disconnect battery earth terminal.

In my Haynes book of crap it dosn't give the valve clearances in the maintanance section and all the other chapters do is refer back to "the specifications given at the start of chapter 1b", how much bloody use is that.

Unless my rage subsides I might have to write a letter to Mr Haynes, or should I do the decent thing and organise a protest so we can burn the book...

All was not lost though, a rave cd is always close to hand.

why not just ring them and suggest they alter their lay out??some people who know how to, but not how much may prefer to have all torques and adjustments on the one page.

hi
Yep I was looking through mine a few days ago and I love the way that when it says secure the head bolts, 'refer back to specifications on engine section' just like S368 VOP said!! WHAT????!!!! Just put the damn thing there!! The pictures are tiny, they are on bad quality paper, they're blurry and finally, in black n' white... Yet they still manage to get about 6 inch of page space left on the 'bottom'!! So, make the pics bigger, give colour, let the specs be beside the part when they're needed, get the specs right for starters..........

Lewis.

Sorry, my point was not that all specs are given in one place, but that when you refer back to "the specifications given at the start of chapter 1b" it's not bloody well there, or anywhere else for that matter.

Yes that's right a Haynes manual that does not gine the valve clearances (anywhere in the damn book, or not that I and three other people could find anyway).

Haynes = CRAP.

The old manuals used to be ok, rebuilt my old vw scirocco engine and gearbox with one...
