After reading a number of not very complimentary threads regarding AF, I have to admit that I was a little apprehensive about contacting them for renewing the insurance on my Landy.

As some of you might have read about the problems I've had after being repatedly told that my 25 year old 110 Fender Hard Top with a 2.5N/A engine is, according to them a 25 year old 110 Fender CSW with 5 doors, 7 seats and has a 2.5TDi lump in it! http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f37/me-landy-dont-exist-253754.html

The phone was answered by Jake, and he knew what I have, and after chatting for a while about the details of what I wanted, he sorted me out a good deal at a reasonable price ... especially when the other companies insisted that as they class mine as a 'van' it must be used for commercial purposes, and insured as such!

We hear so much negative comments about everything and everyone, so to even the balance a bit, I can honestly say that I, for one, will definitely return to AF after this mornings experience with them.

Thank you Jake and by association AF. Give the lad a bonus :D:D:D

I don't think many people have complained about AF's ability to take money off them. It's their treatment re: Poppy's claim that has shown them in such a bad light.

At least they got my Landy right!

I will reserve judgement regarding payouts until and unless it becomes an issue!

After all the negativity regarding Poppy's claim, and the sudden ripoff prices that Swinton, Saga and the rest came up with after telling me that I needed commercial van insurance, I reluctantly gave AF a call, and they couldn't have been more helpful.

Those of you who know me know that I speak as I find, which occasionally upsets some people, and I do not follow gossip, rumours, heresay or tittle-tattle.

Regarding Poppy's claim, all that I know is that I do not know all of the details, and until I do I am unable to make any kindd of judgement.

A peice of paper and promises are one thing, come claim time is another

AF were very very nice to me when I took out insurance with them and paid the premium in full, a couple of months later when I sold the vehicle and asked for a refund on the balance that was a different story. I ended up contacting 'Watchdog' who admitted they had a very large file on AF affairs, I did get my money back eventually and returned my business to the NFU whom I cannot fault in any way. You get what you pay for, in AF's case.... a bag of crap.

As has already been pointed out, AF are only the brokers so any issues would surely be with the company who insures the vehicle/house/boat/whetever!

That's according to my BiL only he specialises in pensions!

What does it say on the V5? Is it not correct on there and if not can't you get DVLA to change it?
I've just bought a LR90 that was converted from a Petrol to a Diesel and NFU have requested a Garage Report to state it is done correctly, which they will forward to the underwriters. I will also have to inform DVLA when the log book comes back.
The previous owner just insured it as a petrol, which is all well and good until the sh1t hits the fan

Surely the point of paying a broker is for them to assist you whether that's for claims, a change of vehicle or whatever.

Funny.,.... When i rang up for my 88" SIII, they insisted it was a van an d not an estate, seems they pick and choose their customers.

I have used a company called A-Plan for years, got good service from them so stick with them.

Helped me with my last accident, even offered a loan car, but mine despite being bananaed was still driveable. Due to an allergy of horrid little cars I kept with my old one until I got my D2
