P38A Handbrake Switch

Hi. I seem to have a strange fault on my handbrake warning light on my '97 4.6 HSE. The bulb is fine, and I've checked the switch which is fine. When I leave the handbrake on and then start the engine, the light is okay. release the handbrake and the light goes off. Pull up the handbrake, no light!

Any ideas? I have the MOT next week, so I hope I can solve the issue before then.

The switch you checked that is fine maybe isn't as fine as you think it is.

Well, I strip out the cubby box and test it again.........

If your stripping out the cubby box then just replace the switch.

Also worth checking to ensure that the actuating mechanism is cleanly making/breaking the switch!
