I managed to get a four bladed plastic fan with the hope of fitting it to the series thinking it may be an improvement over the steel fan.

When I cleaned off the oily dust mixture that builds up on fans, I found that it has a few hairline cracks in it.

Should I risk using it or get another one? I wouldn't want it shattering while it was running.

They are pretty tough, but everything wears a bit with age.

Doubt if it will be a problem.

I had similar with an old Ford ... Try dribbling in some very thin super glue, the thinner the better, over each crack, but don't use a lot. Capillary action will pull the glue into the crack and help bond it. A little and often, repeated a few times should work fine.

When you fit it, if you want a little insurance, carry the steel fan for a while. Be aware though, that the day you don't carry the old fan is when the glued one will break .. ;)

Can you still buy the steel ones? Aren't they the spec for military? I couldn't get hold of a new one a few years ago.
