Hi Everyone
I have recently bought a Freelander 1.8i Petrol 55 plate
Thought it was lovely at first but then it would not start again for 4 days, then it kicked in.
Turned out to be a loose connector on the starter motor which the garage I use fixed, once I could get it to them. Winner Hey!!!
But in the process of looking online for faults on this car it has come up with so many bad gripes on my model...
What should I do...
Someone guide me a little I`m in IT, not a mechanic.

It doesn't have any others as far as I am aware. I have however just ordered one of those ODB2 readers for it to have a look.
I am looking forward to the results... Not

But hey I'm no mechanic and thought I had found a good car, seeing that the others for their age which I looked at first had either driven round the world. Or had such bad body work it would have been rotten in no time.
Like I say I am gutted it was in the garage after 1 month but just looking for advise on what to check / get fixed before it breaks.

So... Where do I start.
Wait for the engine reader thingy or just take it back to the garage and say fix whatever...

Don't want to sell it on its such a nice car. Body work ... Perfect .... Engine bay ... Perfect ... Interior ... Perfect. underneath ... Perfect

But don't want to have something fail so...

Should I get things fixed before they are a problem.
Its done 58000 miles
What should I get done? Someone must have one of these things still running well..

4x4 option,

I have been told to keep on top of the coolant and will look for better stuff also.
crazy thing is I looked online found an RAC credited dealer of used cars. It came with a 12 month roadside+relay RAC Cover AND.. AND.. a 12 month RAC warranty.
But guess what.
Small print does not cover electrical fault which it had.
Gutted...
I hope it keeps going a while longer. its in such good condition

yu can only check faults that you know are there.

Most ODB readers are very limited on what they can check on a Freelander, Landrover have specialised readers.

read as much as you can on freelanders in the CFAQ section.
you see what I was answering to? he is now online checking faults. I take it as he is looking at problems freelander petrols have. If I see interest in a vehicle I'll search to see how well the darn thing is. like engine, trans, reliability, owners complaints or praise... etc

Take a deep breath and don't panic. You may have a very good vehicle? Live with it, drive it, listen to it, get to know how it drives? If there are problems they will emerge, you cannot second guess every fault. Sensible to keep an eye on the expansion tank, the 1.8 has a poor press, but if you are attentive and recognise faults quickly they can be resolved fairly easily on the K series. Take yourself over to the freelander section and introduce yourself and your vehicle. Welcome to the forum

Thanks guys. I found this forum for a little support, as I got the land rover thinking it is a good one to have. but all I see is negativity on my model. Which has gutted me so I thought should I get things checked / replaced before they are a problem.

yu will get lots of help and support, but dont kids yourself. you need to go into Hippo ownership with your eyes wide open. Listen, read and you will succeed. Ignore our warnings at your peril.

there are good ones out there (occasionally), but they can drain your bank quicker than a whirlpool.
