I've just replaced the discs and pads on our FL. ( Early non vented discs )
The set removed made that grinding sound every time the brakes were applied for the two years they were on .
The replacement ones don't and give off much less brake dust than the old ones.
I put it down to materials used in the pads .
My brakes are doing the same. We bought the car a month ago and it had new pads and discs. Iv checked them and they all look fine. I will check the sided thing out.May be wrong but there is an inner and outer pad. Have they been fitted the correct way round? I have never fitted any so sorry if this is silly but worth a comment.

Jack up the wheels in turn and spin them. The cause should be fairly obvious. My brakes are doing the same. We bought the car a month ago and it had new pads and discs. Iv checked them and they all look fine. I will check the sided thing out.
Good advice thanks.
Stone between the disc and backplate can make a good noiseJack up the wheels in turn and spin them. The cause should be fairly obvious.
You'll have a job just spinning one at a timeJack up the wheels in turn and spin them. The cause should be fairly obvious.
LOL, good point. You'll have a job just spinning one at a time
this is very simple get a mechanic to look at them, if you cant sort out brakes arguably the simplest job on a modern vehicle

I doubt that is the case. I can't remember if the pads are sided but I don't think so.Thanks. Thing is it's not all the time.
To he pads and discs are new. Iv had a look at them and all looks ok. I saw somewhere that the pads could have gone in wrong?..

More likely a rusty weather plate is flopping about and rubbing. They usually end up being ripped off because of issues like you're describing.
