Before I get roasted, I have searched for threads on this, and I've read through the relevant ones.
I'm after doing a bit more of this greenlaning. It's fecking great fun.
However I'd rather spend out now, than be caught out with repair costs at an inconvinient time.
So firstly it's a 98 Disco XS all standard except for BF A/T and Long trail tyres.
I'm wondering what engine/ performance modifications I could do reasonably cheaply to make it more reliable. I get the feeling that changing things like air filters is a bit of a pointless exercise from reading through past threads, so what things are worthwhile doing to make my disco more greenlane friendly?
Also kitwise, I've got bugger all in the way of recovery stuff, so a good idea of what I would need would be helpful. All I have is a tow rope, and a few shackles.
I'm not interested in the 'pimp-my-landy' fashion competition that alot of people seem to be doing. Roofracks, snorkels etc. would be a bit OTT for the stuff I intend to tackle, so things like, underbody protection, etc. I would be interested.
Hopefully you can give me an idea of what is worth getting, and what isn't.
Cheers.
