Hi all,

Searched here and on tinterweb, can not find difference between green or black inserts in the sensor/sender for the defender 300tdi. Any ideas? What are the differences? Presumably they are related to engine numbers and possibly the gauge?

Just working on another option for gauge reading issues.

what bit are you talking about stu? not noticed any colour on the sender, but maybe thats because it should be black :)

sender and gauge still here for you if you want it ;)

Cheers griffdowg, but still not sure what the problem is.

There are two different senders for the 300. The differnet colours are the insert between the connector pin and the unit itself, visible between the pin and the nut. You may have only seen the black one, unless you have a disco.

The colours do not really pertain to an engine . They pertain to its relationship with the gauge. Its the gauge and the sender that are the unit not the sender and the engine. I have tried all of the above and the only way to gaurantee a match is to buy a matched pair.

Ok there is loads to types of sender, green, black course and fine thread. depending on guage depends what colour and depending on what engine depends what thread typr is needed. Ring steve parker he will sort you out no probs
