Has any other hippo driver been affected by the torrential rain?

Whilst driving home the other night through deep floods and puddles I managed to get some water into the air filter. This made the 1.8 k-series sluggish and poor acceleration but no probs with electrics.

Does anyone have any tips on spraying electrics (of which there are many in Td4 and 1.8k) with waterproof wot you may call it?
Any good silicone sprays?

Hello,

New to this forum. Been a lurker for a while. Great info.

Not had the fun of driving through the puddles today, but the cubby hole box was damp at the start of the week. I expect it has now become a swimming pool. Too wet to go out an check at the moment though.

Cheers

PS in case anybody wonders, the name comes from the fact as part of my job we drive around the UK firing big laser beams from our hippo. All good fun, ...and legal of course!

Welcome.

Cubby box suffers from condensation esp in winter, heat from exhaust causes cubby box to warm up, condensation forms on the lid when temperature cools. Stowage box is sealed to the outside and carpet is water tight so water comes from above. Rear window/door seal even some sunroofs in 5drs can cause ingress of water. If carpet is wet over main boot floor then you know there is a ingress of water.

So whats these lasers all about?

What rain?;)

This rain, lots of it.....;) BBC - Weather Centre - UK Weather

Good tip about the hair spray ;) although highly flammable in its aerosol state

Guess I'll have to sacrifice a can of hair spray or two for the electrics and just have a bad hair day instead.
