Hi There!!
I Hope You Can Help.
I Need To Sell My Freelander But Obviously Want To Get A Good Price So Need To Do It Privately.
Has Anyone Got Any Good Tips On Where To Advertise?
What's Worked For Others?
Cheers!

How come the HR-V fetches so much money? It has a 1.6 litre engine which has no get up and go at all. Interiors are a bit plastic heavy too :(
Jo L, I still reckon Autotrader, on the interweb. What model is it? Engine type?

try the sun newspaper. them readers dont know one end of a gaylander from a series 1.

another miserable freeloader owner maybe when its sold they'll get a sense of fun back.if they ever had one in the first place

Sounds good to me the td4s always sell OK as its the best of the bunch, just a pity yer cannot keep it, sell it local, be straight and honest, shine her up bit of talc on yer leathers Vaseline on the rear of the exhaust, baby oil on the wheels , and it will sell no problem. . .Ming

Jo, According to the Parkers guide on the internet selling the said car private in good condition you should be able to get around the £8850 mark. Independent dealer would be around £9810. Check out the site yourself to get a rough guide on prices for selling and buying:

Hope this helps?

Dave, Ming and Mark,
Thanks for your helpful replies, keeping my fingers crossed!
To be honest the other abusive answers I've had may have been intended in jest, but all they've done is made me feel really uncomfortable.
Not sure what makes people like that, or think it's funny....
All the best!
Jo

I wouldnt pay too much attention to the 'ribbing' on here - I am fairly new to this site and it took me by surprise a bit but I am now used to it and its like water off a ducks back.

You also have to have a little empathy with these people - dont forget, they own either series/defenders or discos, the former would put me in a bad mood if I spent all day in such discomfort and the latter would certainly not sweeten my disposition if I had been worrying all day about what was going to go wrong next.

Good luck with selling your motor. Im off to work now, in my nice shiney Freelander - it probably wont stay shiney as I am on site today if last week is anything to go by - you see I had to drag out one of the lads Renault Trafic vans as it was stuck half way down a bank in the mud - he was ever so grateful but not as surprised as the lad with the Defender who begrudgingly said 'Im impressed but I would like to see you do that when the dumper gets stuck!' I asked him, 'why the living fook would I want to even try and drag out a dumper when you are here with a Defender ffs?' (the phrase having a dog and barking oneself sprang to mind but I didnt want to upset him further).

The point I am trying to make here is that Freelanders aren't bad they are different! - I dont consider mine to be a full blown, greenlaning everyday, no ditch too deep, no river too deep, super macho kinda motor because it isnt! I just dont need that kind of thing from a car.

Truth be known, I looked a new Disco but to get the same level of spec, i was looking at twice the money - the more I drive the Freelander the more I am chuffed with my decision.

In short it's a cracking car - that has me smiling all day long!

Oh yes did I mention that I had the roof off on Saturday??
Sorry Discoqueens, don't wanna upset ya!

Also worthy of note in defence of our wonderful choice of marque - Freelander is the UK's best selling 4x4 since 1997 - hmmmmm does that mean that I am not the only Gaylander in the village??????

Now hang on a minute _ abusive remarks??? What abusive remarks?? Ive just read through every post and other than a little lite hearted banter there is nothing even remotely abusise....some people are too sensitive for their own good (besides which NO ONE was responding to your post until the 'abusive' remarks went up!). Pah !

Nije,
On reflection this was prob the only one that was abusive....

"another miserable freeloader owner maybe when its sold they'll get a sense of fun back.if they ever had one in the first place"

However, I do guess that my hormonal state didn't help me see the funny side of

"set fire to it!!"

"try the sun newspaper. them readers dont know one end of a gaylander from a series 1."

Probably the first comment I read coloured the other banter into something different.

Outlander,
Last week it needed to go, now I'm not 100% sure. I'm expecting a baby now and my priorities are changing all of a sudden!
  • Been dog tired, I'm only a small frame lass and was finding it heavy to drive. Not so bad this week so far!
  • It's a 3 door, will need a 5 door, as I can't switch off the passenger air bag.
  • I have a horse that I am now seeing 2 days a week instead of 5.
  • Therefore most of my driving over the next year will be around town/motorway.
  • It's proving more expensive than I will be able to afford. (Ok at mo!)
  • It has new MOT/tax/service still so reckoned in my hazy head it would be easier to get a good price than in 6 months time.
Now, I don't know at all! I really shouldn't be making any big decisions now... I'm all airhead and v indecisive.
This week I'm feeling great, not as tired and trip out today into the country through fords and over some farmland was a doddle and fun to drive!
I've always wanted a freelander and was dead chuffed to find such a good example, maybe I'll sit and see for a bit.

jo, if i were you i would hang on to it. as for the passenger airbag you can disconnect it at source then you have no worries. as you said you have always wanted one and now you have one. it is nimble enough to drive around town. you still need to get to your horse twice a week and like you said, you are pregnant so you are a bit hormonal. i remember this from my wife( how scary that was) well i hope all goes well with the new baby and i hope you make the right decision about yer freelander. ;)

Freelanders have that ability to keep you hooked. I was going to sell mine after the head gasket failed but now I have her back I can't sell her, she's lovely :D
There was a rumour that the AC system has some drug in it that makes you silly!
