Just want to introduce myself and say hello. Currently a student in Glasgow, originally from London but live in Miami. Have always wanted to restore a defender but in the states they are just way too expensive even unrestored. I worked all summer and just purchased a 1993 defender 110 CSW. It going to need A LOT of TLC but plan to do it, bit by bit and learn as I go. I have extensive work working experience and handy enough at mechanical repairs/replacement parts etc.. Absolutely no experience welding though (I know, I know) so will be looking for all the guidance I cant find from anyone who is willing to offer me any. Never restored a car before so this should be interesting. I will take the before pics in the next couple of days and plan to get started this week. Where should I start first? doors? bulk head? chassis? ... as far as interior replacement, I have built a CNC machine (that's capable of cutting and 4ft x 8ft sheet of material for my wood working projects that is capable of cutting mild steel, acrylic etc, So I am going to attempt to save this part for last and replicate the dash and some other parts out of the 2020 model defenders to make this project look like a brand new version of a classic. I have 2.5 years left here in Glasgow and then will export it back to Miami when I am finished... Just wanted say that's its very nice to meet you all and I want to say thank you in advance for all the advice.
