I don't believe this one!

This morning I stopped to help someone who needed an jump start. All went well and off he went on his way. Jumped back in my L322 03 Range Rover, 5 mins up the road turned on Radio and started to crackle? Then the sound started to stop and start like a loose connection, after 2 mins that was it dead, no sound.

Had a good look and done some research this afternoon. The monitor works, cd changer I can hear working etc, just no sound. Also the DSP option is no longer accessible but visible on the monitor? I had a look in the rear boot compartment that hides the sat nav and amps and found one of the amps (at least i think its an amp or some kind of sound processor, silver tin box!) has a little/slight corrosion on the leads and in the unit? Very slight!

Do you think this is pure coincidence and the corrosion has eaten my amp or whatever the silver box is? Or, do you think this has something to do with the jump start?

After opening the silver tin box I no longer think this is an amp, but has something to do with the sound setup? Part number: YIL000022 made by LEAR.

Any help much appreciated, has this happened to anyone else?

Just had a quick drive to the shops, the monitor is now blank, but we now have sound?

Any ideas?

Oh, yes forgot to say the silver box/amp is removed from the car at present

I don't know if it is relevant but if you read your handbook you will see they provide a special +ve terminal, remote from the battery, for connecting jump leads, and, if my memory serves me right, a beefed up bolt on one of the suspension turret mountings for the -ve.
