Good all round air compressor ?

As im in the early stages of doing a rebuild
there are various bits i want to spray paint
I have never done it before but would love to have a go

So i thought about getting a compressor that will run various air tools and allow
me to paint vairous bits and if possible spray paint various panels

So can any one reccomend one??

Get the biggest you can afford.
I use a 100L one. Which I manage with. Manage being the key word here. I would have no chance if I wanted to paint a full landrover in one go.

But I'm ok doing a few panels at a time. So I could probably get away with doing say 3 doors, or rear tub and van sides or bulkhead screen and wings.

The only air tools I have ever run is a DA. The compressor was going pretty much all the time. Which isn't ideal.

When I was looking for one I wanted a 150L compressor but this came up cheap and I bought it.

Would I buy the same again. Well yes and no. I'd definitely like a bigger tank but I have realised I haven't got room in the garage to store it. So I have to store it in the shed and drag it out everytime I want to use it. Not sure I'd want to drag anything any bigger than I have across the grass.

Had a 25 litre sealey - don't bother!

Running a 50 litre 3hp v twin which is great for most air tools (mainly use for air wire brush, air jet and impact ratchet)

For spraying it coped well with creosoting 300 metres of fencing, but as others have said, bigger is definately better!

CFM ratings is the key

I started a thread very similar to this last year and I ended up buying one of these
Clarke PE15C50ND (WIS) Industrial Air Compressor (230V) - Machine Mart when Machine Mart was doing one of their VAT free special offers.
It's possible for one person to lift it and lug it around but not so weedy that it runs out of puff on long jobs.

This is what im thinking mate
just spraying the odd panels in undercoat, then i may just take it the paint shop
but as most things depends on budget
have to rebuild the front axel first, but will need to get the codes etc for the spares needed

For me you want a 100L tank minimum.

Don't take it to the paint shop. No seriously don't, It's easier than you think. Most of the work is in the prep, Get that right and it will show in the final result.
Plus at the cost of doing it your self to paying a professional you can afford to #### up a few times and still cost you a lot less.
Its a landrover at the end of the day so it doesn't need to be showroom. But at least it's presentable and looks much better than with a brush/roller.

The first one I did was for my brother and it cost me money to do it for him. But I'm hardly going to charge him. And I now have a skill to paint my own vehicles. Again they're not showroom but I'm very happy with the results I get.

I agree,All the work is in the preping.You can get a great finish with budget H.V.L.P sprey gun's.Panel at a time you need at least 50L tank with 2 horse power motor.With a bigger tank and 3 horse motor,and 14 cfm's at the gun,your laughing.
