got a PM from Roy telinfg me to stop with the bad language, apparently it upsets some of the people on here and they're getting on his case over it.

Its not a problem, if you don't like the method of posting on a forum you can do one of two things.

1) leave - the forum obviously doesn't suit you and theres plenty more of them out there.

2) Whinge like **** to the mods/admin because your an over sensitive mummys boy untill such time as admin get fed up placating you and have words with those who offend you so much.

Thats whats happened in my case, so let the whingers have it thier way and the easiest way to attain that is to not bother posting. Roy, this is in no way meant as a criticism of you, its a criticism of the whingers.

Out of interest Accy, without naming names - are the complainers old hands or newbies? - give us an idea - coz the peeps being complained about appear to be long term stalwarts of this forum, who have imparted alot of help and advice interspersed with impolite repartee.

for just one longterm member a month, you could save 100's of landrovers from the scapper every year.
for that little bit of individual advice, you could save a newbie hundreds of pounds in garage bills and wasted parts.
for all those years experience you alone could save many owners the physcological trauma associated with owning a gaylander.

...dont go sheddy, you boys are an institution. if it wasnt for you guys, my landy would still be on the drive and not working. if i hadnt found you lot i wouldnt have bought a landy (id have bought a more reliable vehicle that i cold stick in the garage once a year). i just think its great how ive got all your knowledge and advice as back up, and that i dont have to rely on a garage and spend 100's on labour. thats why i bought my landy, and thats why im here... cos of you guys.

As i just posted in yellas (ive been here for ages fred) I've had p'ms from people that have been here more or less from the start about the language then the same people slating me for it. I'm really getting to the point where i'm thinking feck it if it's really a problem then go join the other forums... i love this place but it can be really hard work at times. And also to point out sheddy that your pm was from me not Roy and the one to marcus too.. although i don't agree with the telling off bit.. it makes me sound like a school teacher rather than someone with a similar hobby.. Was i really impolite and condesending???? i much prefer to think it was a polite message saying your post had been changed???

Accy, I didn't think your PM was either impolite or condescending. I did say fair enough, I did agree that at times it gets a bit much in here, though I wouldn't dream of complaining to the mod's about it.

As Yella said, it usually dies down again pretty quickly. Sometimes the language gets a bit harsh, sometimes people take a bit of stick. Usually it's good natured, often it's deserved. But, LZ remains far less cliquey & more freindly than any other forum I've subscribed to about any subject and most of the time is bluddy hilarious.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that our posts being changed has prompted the possibly churlish but still quite amusing " we bin' tol' off" reaction it's received. Don't take it personally, it was bound to be discussed on the forum & with the usual sarcastic/ironic twist most things receive. To me, that's part of what makes LZ different, worthwhile & fun.

I haven't responded to your PM by coming on & swearing like a navvy to prove some pedantic point, I have made slightly sarky reference to it, but I thought it was good natured & in the spirit of LZ in general.

Sometimes the subject matter in here get's a bit strong even for me. If it does, I don't take part in that particular fred & as said, it burns itself out fairly quickly. Sometimes I post things that I look back on & think "you "drink that's served on Trans World Airlines, usually produced in India or China", what did you write that for?" & then resolve not to post stuff again when I've had a shandy or two..........until the next time! It happens.

I do just think it's bluddy sad if because of all this someone as amusing, valued and as helpful as Sheddy leaves.

Where do you draw the line. The word "****" is apparently offensive, "tool" is OK & as was stated your signature contains the word "tits" & if push came to shove could be seen as borderline mysogeny!

Dunno, it's a minefield, can of worms, whatever! I'm not going anywhere, I hope Sheddy doesn't & hope everyone else will stick around too. I think you & Roy do a bluddy brilliant job & provide somewhere we can all get any Landy question answered (often with an added portion of scorn & derision, bonus, it makes it fun to read) & have a laugh together, usually at eachothers expense. It's how it is & it's why it works.

ive worked in an office and the factory floor. the 2 enviroments are completely different. most peeps can tell the difference, some cant though.

on the whole LZ has got it about right. the mods do a great job, leave them alone. if u fell the need to argue with a mod, do it via the PM.
and yes it does go awry sometimes, but peeps here generally can moderate themselves.
we all have differing standards, some words are acceptable in my home, whilst others are not. and certainly none of em when the kiddies are here.

ive found some posts here, are over the top, (very few) just my opinion.
i ignore them.

btw, a PM means something, take note of the P bit.


the are lots of forums about, some very mild and some far worse than LZ, so pick another one if you dont like the heat in here.
