Hi just in the process in buying a Freelander Kalahari on a 2003 (53) plate with 97K on the clock. Luckily its from where I work as we sell used cars !!

I have a DAB all singing and dancing head unit and want to put it into the LR now can I just pop it in (using the required power/audio leads) and get DAB from the in built aerial using a splitter or can you get an aftermarket replacement DAB one (I have the splitter here from another vehicle) as I installed a new aerial in the VW.

Will be putting photos of it up very soon - when I get to work as have them on the works computer !!

Can't wait to get behind the wheel of it ...

One more thing how easy is it to get the original radio out i.e. any special tools needed ?

Welcome to the forum and your Freelander - from just up the road (Hedge End).

I chopped my Mk4 Golf GTI in 2 weeks ago for a 2001 TD4 and I am loving the driving position, surprising lack of boat type handling (although it is obviously not a GTI).

Read up about the VCU (viscous coupling unit) and maybe search "freelander wheel up test" on YouTube.

And enjoy more relaxed driving, seeing over hedges and the confidence of a 4 wheel drive system that really will get you through anything you will meet on everyday roads. And some not so everyday roads...

Would have loved to have kept Bora but to be honest loved the landy slightly more. Plus only 97k on clock of LR and after going over cobbles the other day and the darn abs and esp lights now constantly on thought yeah Freelander here I come
