well as its about due for a service and the shocks are suspect anyway what is involved in doing a 2 inch lift? is it worth it? and what do I have to change? :confused: :eek:
 
I think you need new springs, shocks, radius arms, I think these are the major parts.

mmm, just looked in a mag and found a lift kit for £228, springs and shocks this does not include radius arms so I don't know if you need to change them.
 
All depends how trick you want to get, you can spend from a couple of hundred quid upwards, go too high or trick and you will be looking at props too :D
 
you can buy off ebay a 2" spacer for under your springs but you would need to buy shocks to suit but as l3on said to do a proper job props need to be changed they are about 200 pound each
 
To do a lift you'll need springs, shocks and extended brakelines. Typically this will set you back around £200 plus around £45 for the hoses. Add into that around £50 for a polyeurathane bush kit or £180 for a "Polybush" set which you may as well do at the same time. The radius arms and trailing arms will fight you all the way so budget £300 to get the corrected ones, they will also give you extended articulation. If your going that far the you'll also need check straps in case you need to change a wheel and you dont have a trolly jack or hi-lift handy (£20 for straps) and a double cardon front prop (£350) to lose the vibration you have just introduce by changing the mating angle of the tranfers box and front axle. The rear prop can be modified by judicial application of an angle grinder.

Ten you'll realise that the Disco looks silly when its been "jacked" up and wears its standard wheels so factor in at least £500 for a set of steel rims and decent tyres. You don't want to be using alloy wheels off road!

All these prices are +VAT if you are in the U.K.
 
Nearly forgot ... don't forget that you WILL need extended bump stops too.

If you do decide to go the whole hog, you could also get some lowered front turrets and rear shock mounts to give that little bit more travel.

you can lift 2" without having to change the radius arms. the main problem you will have is getting it to sit straight as most disco's lean over asnyway. you need to have different strength springs to correct the lean as its in the chassis rather than the suspension. i recently lifted a 200tdi for a mate and ended up with one 2" spring, one 2 1/2" spring and a pair of lr90 front springs on the rear. this was just to make it sit straight so be very careful ;)
