gearbox problems

Hi there lads ! i'm new on here and well impressed ! the name is Mick ans I'm nuts about sea fishing !!!
but I have a bit of a wee problem ! I can't go fishing because the Range rover 4.6 HSE Auto, I bought only last week ! won't take me anywhere coz it's stuck in neutral !!!! can any of you lads help ?

judging by your name we,d never have guessed ha ha,only thing i can think of the linkage has come adrift underneath,or its lost al the oil out of the gbox.the only other thing is it in teansfer neutral by any chance try your high and low range switch make sure its working,it might have found a neutral .hope this helps...dave

Hi Dave thanks for your reply bud ! I think (hoping) It's the linkage ! it's getting put on a lorry this morning, I had to abandon it at work last night! I wont be coverd by a warranty ! it was a private sale, I hope I havent been duped LOL

the transfer box might be in neutral mick,if its not used much it might of come out of high but not gone into low box ,hence no drive......dave

Hi Dave, it says " transmission neutral "on the dash when i put the ignition key on! and then goes out when the engin starts ! the gear leaver wont go into PARK ! I just get a grinding noise ! am i doing something wrong ? not used to Auto boxes bud

sounds like transfer box motor playing up
