i got a major issue wiff me gearbox its jammed some way or other

it went into first fine went forward 6 feet with it swept the floor under the back and then got back in to move it back put it in reverse started moving and the vehicle stopped like the handbrake had come on so back into first moved forward 4 feet tried reverse again same thing but now its like that in all the gears and wont move

now it seems its in gear and wont come out but the gearstick still moves around the gate as normal the only neutral ive got is on the transfer box

ive just dropped the oil plug out of the box and theres next to nothing in there less than half a cup

so whats the verdict is it a strip down or is it just a return spring somewhere thats not having it or worse is the box frigged :eek::eek::eek:

please help i am now panicking here :willynilly:

check brakes and hand brake ,jack a wheel up in turn and check free ,with one rear wheel up check transfer box turns by spinning wheel with gear box in neutral

ive put it down to the transfer box at the moment as further investigation has led me to believe

ive had the tranny box in neutral and i can get and use evry gear on the main box with no locking grinding or anything

i can drive the bugger forward in any gear fine with no untoward behaviour but soon as i put it in reverse it locks then put the tranny box in neutral evrything rolls free and easy then back to square 1 evrything works fine forward and the trouble starts in reverse

am i right in thinking the tranny box is fooked in some way and how do yer free it from doing this ???

thank frook it was something and nothing

when i bought her the overdrive had been nicked sometime between me winning her on ebay and collecting it

the louzy sods hadnt tightened the nut on the back of the mainshaft and subsequently was tightning the nut against the rear carried bearing house thus locking the entire gearbox

i just wish theyd been a little more honest when i was there and mentioned it needed checking through

but while i was at it i noticed the linkages for me handbrake werent travveling properly so i went right through all that aswell
