Hello all,

Looking for some insights into the above issue, please! I've dived into the previous posts on here/other sites but none of the posts that I can see have the same combination of faults.

My L322 has the usual 'rumble strip' sounds at around 55mph coming from the gearbox - from what I can see on other posts, this is most likely to be the torque converter. That being said, the fault is sporadic and hardly comes up at all during short trips but was very prominent last week after a 2 hour long trip. My question arises from the following: the dash is temperamental in displaying the position of the gear selector and as this issue has gotten worse, so too has the rumbling from the box. In other words, the dash is now showing the gear position less and the rumbling occurs more often than not on longer drives... Could it be that the XYZ switch is causing the rumbling and that switching this out, in combination with a good service, could resolve my issue? That being said, in the service history there's a note from a garage stating that "XYZ solenoid faulting" and that it has been ordered in 2022, though there's no later receipt detailing that it has been fitted (despite later trips to the same garage). Similarly, the XYZ switch was replaced in 2019. It's also probably worth mentioning that the transfer box was service in late 2023. For context, this vehicle has the most extensive service history I've ever seen which gives me some hope!

Any thoughts very welcome!

As a side note - I'm preparing to give the vehicle a full service alongside the gearbox service, does anyone know of a good site to get everything ordered in one go? There's obviously Ebay, and similar other websites, but I'm wary of Chinese-made rubbish.

Cheers.

Drop the oil pan on the box and examine any debris carefully. Any sign of metal flakes and it could be the torque converter, it'll may well have poisoned the gearbox as well.. 😵 If the gearbox oil is as black as hell and not see through it could be too late 😵‍💫

Pretty definitely requires an oil and filter change loads of how to on the tube it's pretty simple to be honest the cattle grinding should go away . You can not drain all the oil out so consider doing a fluid flush a couple of times along with the pan/filter
