gearbox and transfer box stripdown hints for me?

right, now i have got her goin, i need to take her to bits again to try and sort what i think is the loudest gearbox on earth!

the probs:
foot off clutch, engine idling=whiney noise poss bearing sound??
driving in 123 and reverse =horrendous noise from the gearbox 4 seems fine and reasonably quiet, i am hoping to get all the gears soundin like fourth so it stops scaring my daughter!
she never jumps out of gear and the selection isnt as vague as i would have thought!
there is a decent leak although i think that is comin from the transfer box, not sure though tbh...

my friend said he would strip down the gearbox and give it a good sortin, have we any tips for us?
we are goin to try to do it this week but i am in the procss of sortin out me new workshop

how long do you reckon this will take and how hard is it to do?
i got a quote for ait to be done professionaly but they said 500 didnt pay that for the landy, if i had that sort of money then i could buy me rrc project that i want!

i was thinkin of puttin a 2a box in it but i want to keep it std so when it is done i can get more brass for the rr fund.. would that be the case? ie original =more money than not

get a 2a box orf flea bay fer 10 notes as the 2a box is said to be the stronger of the two. 4th gear is a straight through 1:1 ratio so least likely to make any noise

hows the oil level?

that would explain it bein quieter in fourth then! will check the oil level, it is likely to be down on oil i reckon, will i have to get it on ramps to check?
