Got a 2001 Freelander TD4 which appears to have just developed a fault.
When I accelerate between 2000 & 3000 rpms the gear stick begins to shake
quite badly, there appears to be a faint sound as well. Is this likely to
be a transmission fault or something else. Does it sound like anything that
freelanders are prone to?

Thanks

Dunno if they're prone to it, but it sounds like a loose gearbox / engine
mount somewhere.

Freelander Td4 can develop a loose/faulty engine mounting. It is a known
fault as there is a modified engine mount available.
Had mine replaced under warranty, thank god! Took two days, warranty bill
£600+ !!!!
