Hello, my freelander suffers from the gear linkage pin comming out on frequent ocassions, it has the c clip that holds it in place but it manages to come loose enough to make the lever feel like pudding mix, is this a common fault, is there an easy fix?

cheers

I fixed mine with a nut and bolt /nylock its a bit of a fiddle getting it in there but it wont fall out again.

Yes thats the plan although its a bit of a faff getting it in .
its just forward and above the cross member and you need small hands
I had to fix mine in the carpark of the hospital after the pin dropped out and left me stuck in third gear in the approach to A&E we had to bump it up on the kerb assisted by a posse of ambulance /paramedic guys to get enough clearence to get underneath
Oh how we laughed:)

I should add that you need to undo the two bolts that hold the undertray on at the back ,
get a bit of wood and bend it downwards its only plastic and you will gain a bit more room to work.
Also you need to put the bolt in from the bottom and the nut on the top I know this sounds wrong but there isnt enough room above to get the bolt turned round /vertical to drop through the hole.
A rachet ring spanner is your friend here.
This is why you need to use a nylock to stop it unscerwing
