Gear box misery......

After 5 years of slowly rebuilding a 2A safari, tried to drive to the chip shop today.
the driver tried to change to third and an incredible noise of crashing gears deafened us.
Mission aborted and back again. massive crunching when moving- and fine grinding when stationary and idling.
What do you think i should look for in the gear box???

Drain the oil and see what bits come out. Was your clutch working right?

Not good, hope it’s not as bad as it sounds, as Kermit said perhaps one of the springs off the 3/4 synchro popped off,, if you take the top cover you should be able to see if all 3 still in place
Did you take the box apart as part of the rebuild

No- It Seemed ok. planning to take up floor and look in top

It’s not unknown for peeps to fit clutch plate the wrong way, lots of noises appear from that mistake
