I've got all the way to amsterdam with the head gasket steam cleaning the exhaust for me.

My plan is to stash the car with a reputable mechanic and fly to uk for a week or two and pick up the car once the bill has got to three figures.

anyone know of ANYWHERE in amsterdam that is worth trying? at the moment I'm just taking a punt on something on the web, but if anyone has any experience that would be great. Idealy southern side, near the airport, but if it's a trustable garage I'd got the extra distance.

Cheers guys,
So close to home!!

Time was running out and I had to find somewhere quickly. Tried a few places and was mostly greeted with huffs and despondent looks. No one had secure parking for the car, and my car NEEDS secure parking. In the end I drove a short way out of the city and found a place.

Pulled up and saw loads of old Range rovers and 110's in the yard.

Inside there was a defender and a series II getting treatment. Such a nice feeling to leave the car with people who you know will treat it like a landy should be.

Quite a lot of the blue label sitting around though...

The car will be getting some treatment for wear & tear while I'm back in the uk briefly then I'll head back out to Europe and keep moving.

What was the name and phone number of the place you left your Defender. I'd love to start compiling a list of landrover friendly garages on the continent. I broke a half shaft a few weeks ago in France and had no Idea where I could get it recovered to if removing the prop and sticking in diff lock hadn't worked.

I'm sure such a list would also be useful to Landyzone International Rescue.
