Series 2 Galvanised Chassis swap?

Good morning to you all.

I was chatting to a friend last night and he is thinking about putting his 1959 S2 onto a new galvanised chassis. The Landy is in good running condition but has had some welding work done and is now starting to need more.

His question is whats the going rate now days if he was to pay someone to do the chassis change and what is included in the price of the swap. Just labour or are brake lines and things like bushes included?

He has the galv chassis but is to busy to do the work himself.

Obviously not as complex as a defender chassis, but you won't know just what is needed until you work through the job. He can probably get an agreed price for the labour, with a contingency of say £500 for additional parts.
Some garages "specialise" in this kind of work, others avoid it because it can grow arms and legs and tie up a ramp for days if not weeks.

Why not repair the original chassis and sell the replacement ? It is virtually guaranteed the original is not beyond repair, and being a 1959 vehicle it is rarer than any other Series model and ought to be left as original as possible to maintain it’s value .
 
I would guess the labour cost to be between £1500 and £2000 for a straight swap but as.already mentioned, the work will almost certainly include changing a fair few bits, brake lines, bushes etc so I would allow up to £3000. Finding someoe to do a quality job will be the challenge.

This has been spoken about but i believe the original is in a very patched up state so how far to you go before its to far in man hours? He has no interest in selling the vehicle. Its a nice example but not numbers matching. IMHO i think galvanised chassis add to the value as many Landy owners see it as a upgrade.
 
A new replica S2 chassis from Richards is £2262 plus delivery. If paying a professional garage to do the work I'd imagine not much change left from £5000 once all the unexpected extra cost are taken into account, wiring, brakes ect.
