I have a series 3. Both my headlights stopped working , I checked the fuse and had the dash off to check that the headlight wire had not come loose from the rear of the switch , it had so i reconnected it , it all seemed fine. The sidelights etc all work when I switch them on, headlights work ok , however now full beam only works on passenger side , I would assume that this is the sealed unit failing , however the odd thing is that the blue light that illuminates when full beam is on is now illuminated all the time , however it is not as bright as when you activate full beam any ideas?

Thanks

Neil

Check all the earths on the headlamps and the multi connection in the centre of the radiator panel. Try another sealed unit or upgrade to halogen bulb type. If no luck change the indicator/dip switch they are around £15. Pattern ones are not long lasting unless you wire the headlights through relays.

Sorted , didn't even know but I've already got halogen upgrade !! Result , there are three wires at back of halogen , blue yellow and red ? I think , the blue wire had come loose so that was a free fix , thanks for advice , spent more time thinking it over than it took to fix , however didn't really know how to take lamps off so removed those annoying little clips that fix glass to steel rim unnecessarily so that was a learning curve.
