fuel tank sending unit

HI ALL
Can any one give some tips on removing the fuel tank sending unit. I was taking the seats out the other day and pulled the wire connections of the top of the sending unit (fuel tank) and the spade snapped of as I pulled it of.
I have wedged the connection together so its working for now!!!
I was going to take out the unit and see if I could repair the connections or replace it if not.
I think you need to hit the round metal circul thing anti clkock wise??
The tank is on a 300tdi defender 1998.

But any clues how to get the thing out ??

not done defender,but most others are tap ring round anti clockwise

just tap the ring around, and remove the seal (you should get a new rubber seal with a new sender).

There's a thread here regarding the Britpart wires being the wrong way round too

Tap ring - remember to twist the sender unit on the way out in order not to damage it.
