2. TD4. Recently I have been trying to improve my mpg, not that its bad or anything but I was wondering.
I have been excellerating lightly if you know what I mean, and coming off the power early with gentle braking, usually no braking required, just select the gear and go. I was wondering is it more economical when reducing speed to freewheel in nuetrel ie, rpm is tick over, or is it best to leave it in gear off the pedal but the revs stay higher, I suppose theres not much in it, but would like to do whats best.
Also while this test is going on its amazing how close people get behind you when approaching junctions and so on, as they would probably brake late and hard if the road was clear.
I guesse this would also reduce stress and wear on the braking system. Not that I could drive like this all the time. Mind you the TD 4 is not known for its nimbleness.
Early signs are showing mpg of 40+
