One of the fuel pipes on my classic is badly corroded and needs replacing.

The worse effected section is where the pipe runs over the rear suspension coil. My plan was to run a new lengh of pipe from the top of the fuel tank to where the fuel filter is located in front of the rear wheel arch. having removed the inspection cover in the boot floor all the pipe work and joints the goes into the tank are also badly corroded. Can the lid/cap on top of the fuel tank be unscrewed and replaced?

yes use a large blunt screw driver or similar to undo it like a nut, seal needs to be fitted to tank before sender unit when refitting
